ZERO: Terms & Conditions

Driver Terms and Conditions

Effective Date: February 1st 2025

Welcome to Zero Rideshare (“Zero,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your participation as a driver using the Zero platform (“Services”). By signing up or providing services through Zero, you agree to these Terms.

1. Driver Eligibility

To qualify as a Zero driver, you must:

  • Be at least 21 years old with a valid driver’s license.
  • Pass a background check and vehicle inspection.
  • Maintain valid vehicle insurance and registration.
  • Comply with local, state, and federal laws, including California’s Prop 22 requirements.

2. Account Registration

  • Provide accurate information during registration, including your SSN, banking details, and vehicle information.
  • Maintain updated records and promptly report changes to your information.
  • You are responsible for safeguarding your account credentials.

3. Driver Responsibilities

Drivers must:

  • Maintain professionalism and courtesy with riders.
  • Ensure vehicles are clean, safe, and compliant with Zero’s standards.
  • Follow traffic laws and prioritize safety.
  • Accept and complete ride requests reliably.

Prohibited behaviors include:

  • Cancelling rides without valid reasons.
  • Harassment or inappropriate behavior towards riders.
  • Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

4. Earnings and Payments

  • Payout Structure: Drivers earn based on distance, time, and promotional offers. Payouts are subject to deductions for taxes and fees.
  • Payment Cycle: Payments are processed weekly to the driver’s linked bank account.

5. Vehicle Requirements

  • Vehicles must meet local rideshare regulations and Zero’s standards.
  • Regular inspections are required to ensure vehicle safety.
  • Insurance: Drivers must carry personal auto insurance. Zero provides additional coverage during rideshare activities.

6. Independence

Drivers are independent contractors, not employees. As such, you are responsible for:

  • Managing your taxes and expenses.
  • Maintaining your vehicle.
  • Following all applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

7. Safety Standards

Zero may assess driver performance based on:

Drivers with poor safety or service scores may face suspension or removal from the platform.

8. Liability and Insurance

  • Driver Liability: Drivers are liable for accidents or damages caused during rideshare activities.
  • Zero Coverage: Zero provides commercial auto insurance during active rides (Periods 2, and 3).

9. Dispute Resolution

Disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration in California under the laws of the State of California.

10. Termination

Zero reserves the right to suspend or terminate driver accounts for violations of these Terms or policies.

Rider Terms and Conditions

2. Eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 years old to use the Services.
  • You must provide accurate and complete information during registration and maintain updated account details.
  • Use of the Services is restricted to users with valid payment methods and adherence to these Terms.

3. Account Creation

  • To use Zero, you must create an account with a valid email address, phone number, and payment method.
  • You are responsible for all activity under your account and must safeguard your login credentials.
  • Zero reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts for violations of these Terms.

4. Booking and Payment

  • Fare Calculation: Fares are determined based on distance, time, and service type. Promotional rates may apply.
  • Payments: Payments are processed through the payment method linked to your account.
  • Cancellations: Riders may cancel trips but may incur cancellation fees depending on the timing.
  • Refunds: Refunds, if applicable, will be processed at Zero’s discretion.

5. User Conduct

Riders must:

  • Act respectfully towards drivers and other riders.
  • Avoid damaging vehicles or engaging in illegal activities.
  • Follow all applicable laws and Zero’s safety guidelines.

Prohibited behaviors include but are not limited to:

  • Harassment or inappropriate behavior.
  • Carrying hazardous materials.
  • Using the Services for unlawful purposes.

Zero aims to provide reliable service but does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operations. Service availability may vary based on location, demand, or external factors.
